Kid Rock Says Something Stupid About Drug Rehabilitation

Pop star Kid Rock a.k.a Robert James Ritchie has revealed that he doesn’t understand the concept of people entering drug rehab for substance abuse.

‘I do not understand rehab. If it works for people then God bless them. People have different personalities,” the Daily Star quoted Rock, as telling Q magazine.

Beyonce Donates $4 Million To Drug Rehab Charity


Beyonce had a great 2008. The singer and actress is making every effort to see that 2009 is a hit too, and has already started this year off with a philanthropic bang.

Miss Knowles recently made a $4 million donation to a Drug Rehab center - the entire paycheck received for last months Sony release Cadillac Records with Adrian Brody and Jeffrey Wright (as Muddy Waters).
Beyonce plays legendary blues singer Etta James, which tells the story of her life of addiction. Her generous donation was inspired by a visit to the center last year for film research. Upon hearing the life stories of the women struggling to reform in the center, Beyonce was moved to tears.

Woman in Texas Caught Stealing from Drug Rehab Center

A Central Texas woman was arrested for stealing over $60,000 from a non-profit agency that helps the public battle addictions. The Heart of Texas Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse told Waco Police one of their own was caught stealing.

Amy Winehouse - Goin back to rehab...again

Musical artist Amy Winehouse's drama continues as the 25-year-old singer was reportedly admitted to a London hospital on Sunday after having a negative reaction to medication. A spokeswoman for the troubled singer said Winehouse had "a bad reaction to the combination of medication she has currently been prescribed".

Winehouse should consider going to a Florida drug rehab center, which might be better for her than past rehabs she as been admitted to. Winehouse entered rehab after 19 minutes of video footage which showed her snorting ecstasy and cocaine and inhaling fumes from a crack pipe after admittedly downing six Valium surfaced courtesy

Adolescent Treatment Programs Reduce Drug Abuse, Produce Other Improvements


In the first large-scale study designed to evaluate drug abuse treatment outcomes among adolescents in age-specific treatment programs, NIDA-supported researchers have found that longer stays in these treatment programs can effectively decrease drug and alcohol use and criminal activity as well as improve school performance and psychological adjustment.

An evaluation of more than 1,100 adolescents who received substance abuse treatment in residential, short-term inpatient, or drug-free outpatient programs found improvement in rates of drug use and social behavior. Some 53 percent of those treated met or exceeded the minimum recommended stay in treatment.

The study, part of NIDA's ongoing Drug Abuse Treatment Outcome Studies for Adolescents (DATOS-A), analyzed data from 23 community-based adolescent treatment programs that addressed peer relationships, educational concerns, and family issues such as parent-child relationships and parental substance abuse. Successful elements of adult treatment programs, such as participation in group therapy and participation in a 12-step program, were also included in treatment plans.
